Representing Eternity with it’s circular design of evergreen branches, the Advent Wreath is a Christian tradition that symbolizes the spiritual preparation for the coming of Christ.
Traditionally, the wreath is made of five candles in a circle of evergreens, with three candles being purple, one being rose and a single white candle placed in the middle which represents purity, or Gods Candle.
On the first Sunday of Advent, the first purple candle is lit “THE PROPHECY CANDLE or CANDLE OF HOPE”. Each week on Sunday a different candle is lit
Week one: Purple Candle – The Prophecy Candle, the candle of Hope
Week Two: Purple Candle – The Love Candle, Also called the Bethlehem Candle.
Week Three: Rose Candle – The Shepherds Candle, JOY
Week Four: Purple Candle – The Angles Candle – Peace
Week Five: White Candle – God’s Candle – Purity – The fifth candle is traditionally lit on Christmas eve, representing the Purity of God.
