The 2016 edition of Vacation Bible School is nearly upon us. This year we are travelling to EGYPT to learn about Joseph’s journey from prison to palace. Throughout the week, participants and volunteers will hear about the gifts that God has given us from Joseph as well as playing games, singing, creating memorable crafts, and more. VBS will be July 18th-22nd, from 5:30-8:00 pm. If you’ve never taken part in VBS, you may be wondering what a typical night looks like.
Not long ago I did an interment for Ed Vandermoere at Evergreen Cemetery on Mt. Hope road in Lansing. While walking towards the gravesite and family, I wondered if I
could remember the location of Canon Vincent Anderson and his wife Mary, whom I buried at Evergreen many years ago.
THE GIFT OF GRACE
Grace is something you can never get but only be given. The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn’t have been complete without you. Here is the world. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Don’t be afraid. I am with you. Nothing can ever separate us. It’s for you I created the universe. I love you.
There’s only one catch. Like any other gift, the gift of grace can be yours only if you reach out and take it. Maybe being able to reach and take it is a gift too.
